30 Weeks Pregnant - good news!

Weekly pregnancy updates from a childbirth educator, doula and mum to 2 little girls. Come and join me on my journey as I share how I’m feeling, how baby is developing, what I’m doing to prepare, and some favourite resources!

This is going to be a very brief post today, but in keeping with the festive season I am celebrating some good news! Not only did my latest tests come up negative for any pathologies that could have been linked to the low platelets, but my platelet levels have gone up already, and are actually back into the acceptable range! They went from 145 to 155 in the space of a fortnight! Meaning I no longer have the gestational thrombocytopaenia diagnosis! Haemoglobin and ferritin are also climbing again.

This was so encouraging to me! I had only been treating the low levels with food (increasing my meat intake) and food-based supplements (Spatone) so far, which would tend to show results after a period of time, so I hadn’t necessarily been expecting to see a rise in my levels yet. The main point of testing again so soon was to rule out any pathologies. But apparently my body is really sensitive and responsive to minerals and nutrients from food, which is so cool! So, I’m going to keep doing what I’ve been doing and test in another four weeks, and hopefully see levels even higher by then!

What symptoms am I feeling?

Thankfully my back hasn’t bothered me most of the week. I have been getting Braxton Hicks on and off, sometimes pretty uncomfortable.

How has baby been developing this week?

Around 40 cm and 1.6-1.8kg. Baby can now open their eyes wide, and some may have grown quite a good head of hair already. I suspect ours does, since the girls were both born with lots of hair.

What am I doing to prepare?

I had a visit from my midwife this week which was great. We booked in the next visit... only 2 weeks away! I can’t believe we’re already far enough along to be scheduling fortnightly visits!

And that’s it for this week! 🌿💛

Have a wonderful holiday season with your loved ones! 🥰
